Life has been in a chaotic state for the past two years and it is not slowing down with inflation costs, wars, floods, and so much more. With everything going on I have found myself rediscovering my inner harmony and trying new activities to prompt that sensation within my body. So today I want to share some inner harmony activities for your body!
Inner harmony is described as an inner state of being that is encompassing feelings or sensations within the mind or body that is derived from self-acceptance, a deep understanding of people, life circumstance, and memories of our past. I see inner harmony as an umbrella term that has lots of facets in life that can contribute to this inner state, as it can eb and flow as life throws us curve balls. Our bodies take in a lot of information, get pushed to the limits, rush through daily activities, and are expected to perform when we need to. However, our bodies get very little appreciation for the demands we put on them. I have found that carving out more time to rest my body with the intention of checking in with it and seeing what it needs, allows me to discover new sensations that I have not previously listened to.
Two inner harmony activities for your body that I currently do are:
- Starting out my day just 15 minutes earlier to sit or lay on my yoga mat and listen to a mindful meditation that guides me into breath work. This allows me to check in and give my body gratitude for the day’s activities ahead of me.
- I also set alarms on my phone at certain times to remind me to sit for 2-3 minutes in silence to scan my body and notice any sensations that come up. Once I identify a sensation say in my shoulders, I start to stretch or press that area to see if I can soothe or support the sensation’s needs.
I have found since I gifted myself this extra time of being intentional by listening to my body, I am moving into a state of gratitude towards my body. In turn, my overall self-acceptance has increased which has created the inner harmony I have been seeking.
